I’ve been there too. I have felt the anxiety you’re feeling when you are faced with major life altering decisions and totally confused about which way to go.
Big life altering decisions are not the only thing that I had trouble with. The seemingly small decisions that I would make seem to be off as well. There were so many times when I would get a feeling about someone, a new person on a first date, a potential co-worker, a doctor or even a mechanic for my car and I would ignore it only to discover that my first “intuitive” impression was right!
I would always say, “I knew it! I knew it! I should have
trusted my Intuition!”
Every time this happened, it undermined my confidence and made me second guess myself. Then I would seek out the guidance of others to help me to make decisions and find my own path.
I would always hear "Trust Your Intuition" or "Go With Your Gut" yet I was not able to fully let go and trust. Instead of the confident feeling that I now get for my clients I would start analyzing and predicting all the different potential outcomes that "could" happen. I would analyze, deliberate, go to psychics, consult cards and send myself into a tailspin.
I left my corporate position and became a Marketing Consultant for several years and then I took my part-time motivational speaking and spirituality business and made it a full-time endeavor. Once I made the decision to go full-time, I didn’t really know where to turn when it came to making the most effective decisions for my own venture as a “solopreneur”. I had an MBA in Marketing and worked with Fortune 100 companies, yet I had no idea where to start.
In order to figure our lives out, my friends and I sought out the best “psychics”, mediums and other spiritual gurus. We would compare notes of who was “accurate”, who could give us the timeframes of the outcomes that we desperately wanted and who was honest and legitimate. I was like a chicken without a head trying to figure it all out.
When you get advice from others, no matter how spiritual and well meaning the person might be, you are getting it through their interpretation and filters. Their own personal experience and ego can absolutely influence how they interpret the guidance that they provide you. This can be helpful in certain situations where you are so close to the issue that you just can’t get a clear idea of what to do, but becoming dependent on another’s advice is both disempowering and in extreme cases, can be dangerous.
It was like having a middleman to speak on our behalf. I also watched other friends who would “never consider going to a psychic”, try to rely solely on “logic” and “reality” but who soon would find that their “logic” had led them down the wrong path…again!
They would say, “I knew I should have trusted my gut!”
“But how can I when it seems that if I make a mistake it would have cataclysmic consequences?!”
To combat this, I started to use my own Intuition to help others. I found that my Intuition was very accurate for others and had a line of friends, clients and family members asking me for “intuitive advice.” They would say, “Mari what do you get on this? Or what do you think the Angels are saying about that? Or when will he call? Or should I do this or that?”
People had faith in my ability to guide them toward making the right decisions. I could get an immediate feeling or a knowing of their situation.
I might see a distant vision or hear a small voice say something. All of this I took for granted. Yet my friends and clients would call me or write me even years after and say, “Remember when you told me that? Well it was so true…” I was amazed that people sometimes 5 years later would tell me that they were still listening to tapes of our sessions and using them as guidance.
Before working with Mariana I was extremely confused about the “relationship” I was in. Not only was I confused but I was very unhappy in this relationship but was trying my hardest to pretend it was what I wanted. It was toxic and I lost myself because I sacrificed who I am just so I wouldn’t be alone. Although I thought I was happy, during the two years of this relationship I never felt more alone, miserable and listless. My every thought was how to make him happy, striving to make him see how great of a person I am. I was working so hard to make him see this but it wasn’t successful because I didn’t believe it myself. I was very hard on myself and honestly didn’t love Alaina. It was a recipe for disaster. For a while, this was exciting. Especially because I knew that I was helping so many people. But I had a burning question inside of me. “Why could I do this for other people with such objectivity and confidence but when it came to myself I was not able to?” “Why did I go into a personal tailspin when it came to relying on my Intuition for my own direction and decision making?”

I started to feel very uncomfortable because people were relying on my guidance instead of their own. This was very disheartening. My goal was to empower my clients, not to create a dependency on me.
While it was very flattering, I knew that I had to go in a different direction. My purpose is to inspire people to become "Spiritually Empowered," so that they can hear their own guidance, and TRUST in their own Intuition. I certainly can be a guide and a "ground person" to bounce ideas off of.
